I subscribed to iPad and Technology in Music Education. This is a blog that offers good reviews on new apps for music teachers. Today I reviewed a post about a music reading app called ForScore. The post is entitled, “My Most Used Music Apps – Unrealbook and ForScore both updated today!” dated August 13, 2015 by Paul Shimmons.

The post begins with an announcement that the above referenced apps now have an update available. The main portion of the post discusses the app called ForScore. For Score version 9.0 offers a few tools that I can use with both visual and auditory learners in my classroom. First, the Dashboard feature allows you to record so that you can study any playing/singing habits. Second, for auditory learners, I can place buttons on any page for controlling audio playback, controlling the tempo, etc. Third, I can organize my sheet music with labels like a set list which will allow me to focus more on classroom management and allows faster practice of aural skills exercises. The organization is an advantage and will help to maintain fast-paced lessons (instead of taking the time to pass out sheet music). Lastly, The Accessibility section has various metronome sounds that will be fun to experiment with in the classroom, which when used on a regular basis, can help my students to develop their own internal metronome.
